some photos from today’s protests in nyc, taken at washington square at the end of the march (i cheated and skipped to the end). I heard how peaceful it all had been, but it was marred for me. While I’m not in favor of this war, i was there trying to be objective photo taker, and that wasnt too hard once I heard the mobbish yelling of some of the folks around me. I just felt bad for the police. Some video: protesters shouting at cops, even though as far as i could see the police were uniformly courteous and patient, and helped NYC’s biggest exercise of freedom of speech in my lifetime go smoothly. Minutes later, someone let loose the pepper spray - you could smell it - and news reports said several police, not protesters, had to go to the hospital by day’s end. Full story or not, I have no idea, but that’s just pathetic. Fight the real enemy: even considering past and present abuses, calling NYC cops fascists is a gross misinterpretation of reality and history, and attacking them with mace, if that’s what happened, is a slap in the face to everybody.
