It’s great to see Dean give a rousing speech against the Bush administration, showing he still has some fight in him even though Clark’s leapt to the head of the pack - it’s a good reminder that things could swing quite a bit in the months still to come as we get to know both candidates better. I’d rather we have two strong candidates to choose from. However, it’s disheartening to also see Dean attacking Clark so quickly, and in such a histrionic way (“I’m shocked”). C’mon, please. The best thing these guys could do is keep double-teaming Dubya, and let the primaries decide if either of them get a chance to try to take him out. Eyes on the prize, guys. Bush goes back to Crawford for good, and we all win.
And don’t even get me started on Bush at the U.N., and tonight’s California debate, both of which have kept me riveted. The drama around Bush’s address — never seen anything like it (what’s with them leaving the hall while Chirac was talking?). And the Cali debate tonight has been the longest I’ve had FOX News tuned in since it launched (74 minutes and counting). Peter Camejo (Green Party) is actually landing the best blows - whoever let him in the same room with Cruz and Arnold made a huge mistake.
Finally, I hope you saw the great video clip on Letterman Monday night, where Bush confuses his left and right hands when he raises them to illustrate the statement, “the left hand now knows what the right hand is doing.” If not, there’s a recap here — and apparently they’re showing the clip again tonight. Set your Tivos - they’re showing that amazing clip of Bush spitting a huge mouthful of chewing tobacco (or something worse) on the South Lawn again tonight, too.
