With great fanfare, Guinnevere’s Toddler Blog has now launched. My favorite entry so far:

is it just me or are those martians on sesame street not the scariest puppets ever?

Winnie is making her opinions known thanks to iBlog, from Lifli Software, which is a very cool product, but it seems to have lifted a lot of functionality from Movable Type (which powers shey.net), although you don’t see Ben and Mena getting much credit for it on the iBlog site. While Movable Type has always been distributed for free (although its creators have launched an easier-to-use hosted service, TypePad, which does cost a monthly fee), iBlog is being sold for $19.95, and at the very least must have a licensing deal with Apple, as the company is currently offering iBlog for free to all its .Mac customers, and so it’s possible Lifli has already made more money off Movable’s concept than they have. Hope they’re getting a royalty from Lifli, at least. If not, it shouldn’t be hard for us to help get Winnie up and running with a different system.

Meanwhile, in (sadly) related news, Time has reported that the Bush team will launch a blog for its re-election campaign. Winnie’s dad, upon hearing this, pointed out that you’re sure to get more intelligent commentary on her site, and I have to agree.

WOW! That kid is a genius! Such thoughtful and articulate commentary. Keep up the good work, Guinn!

I agree with you and Winnie’s dad that her commentary is much more intelligent than any in the Bush house - what does it take to get an impeachment these days, anyway!
I find Winnie just as articulate, insightful and delightful in person as she is in print - wonder which side of the family she gets it from????
