Led experience design and development for YouTube's flagship spaces for the creative community to learn, connect and create.
Starting in Los Angeles, each YouTube Space offered state of the art production resources, events, hands-on workshops and coworking spaces, entirely free, for YouTube channels of all kinds.
For each additional city—New York, Tokyo, London, Rio—we built a local team of production and creative development experts, and dove deep into the needs of the region's creative communities, from native creators to professionals in music, film, advertising, fashion, and film and TV.
YouTube Spaces were the embodiment of YouTube's "broadcast yourself" ethos—where other studios in town presented a closed gate, YouTube Spaces were open—and many top creators honed their skills, built their audiences, and staged their most ambitious productions there from 2012–2020, until the COVID pandemic closed the permanent spaces.
The Spaces team went on to open satellite and pop-up spaces in dozens of locations including Berlin, Paris, Mumbai, Toronto, Nashville, Sydney, and Dubai. Alumni have since played key leadership roles at companies including TikTok, Meta, Spotify, and Amazon Live.
